Facebook Webinar: Q/A from 6/22/10

Each week we get hundreds of people that attend or free webinar series. I want to thank all of your for taking the time to learn more about social media and apply it to your businesses and lives. It will be rewarding for you.

Here are a list of questions, we received that were pending. If we missed any, please feel free to submit them by posting a question.

Maggie at SOBP: Q: Can you recommend a book to learn how to setup Facebook for a non-profit?

A: Facebook Marketing an Hour a Day by Chris Treadway and Mari Smith is a good book that is probably the most recent of Facebook books out there. You will also want to look at and join Causes on Facebook.

Of course, it’s going to take you a while to read that book and get going. I would also recommend you take the Facebook Boot Camp and learn all you need to know in 2 hours to get it setup and moving in the right direction.

Morgan at Kansas State: Q: Can you talk about facebook ads a little bit and if they are a good value for a non-profit business?

A: Facebook Ads are great to target a given audience and really find the people that represent your given audience, volunteer, donor…. per the value, you’re going to have to run the campaign to determine if it works wellf or you. What works for one non-profit may not work for another. But there are key pieces that you should use to maximize your return. Good copyrighting tops the list.

Melissa at NAP: Q: How do you put a poll on your page?

A: Applications. Find a poll. Install application. Edit Application. Plug in your questions.

Melissa at NAP: Q: How do you customizet the box tabs?

A: Facebook will be removing the box tabs in the near future, so don’t worry about these. I’d recommend removing them as they are the least useful. Focus on custom tabs.

Leonie at CGU: Q: Is creating a business page on FB, and want to use a generic email for the signup – what to put in the firstname/lastname registration?  FB seems to want a personal name, rather than the business name.

A: I think you are on the wrong sign up page. Make sure you go here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

Rhonda at Christus: Q: What is the most popular page on facebook?

A: Texas Hold em.

Rhonda at Christus: Q: How effective is facebook for recruitment

A: It can be done. However there are better social media tools like LinkedIn and Twitter.
