Web 1.0 – 2.0 – 3.0
November 3, 2008 by John ZimmermanSo what do these crazy numbers mean?
Here is a short breakdown that you can explain to your parents.
Web 1.0 = Picture yourself in front of a crowd and you have a mega phone. You’re telling everyone that you can possibly see all about your company.
Web 2.0 = Picture a neural network — Hundreds and thousands of connections that branch out and seem to go on forever. You get to tell everyone all over the world about your company, and they in turn tell others all over the world. No limitation here on what you can see.
Web 3.0 = Picture the Jetsons. Instead of you telling anyone about your business, robots are telling people about your business, closing deals, collecting payment, providing customer service all the while you are sleeping, are on the beach, or on sabbatical in Nepal. Oh yeah!
The future is now. Where is your business?
